Optical illusions: Thaumatropes

A Thaumatrope was a Victorian toy. A simple optical illusion based on the persistence of vision. It has a different image on each side. When spun, the images appear to merge. For example, on one side a bird and on the other a cage. If it spins fast enough, the bird will appear inside the cage.
